The Ashokan Sanctuary
Set in the Catskills, this West Shokan, NY weekend home began as a true blank slate. With very little furniture making the move, our clients saw it as an opportunity to create a place entirely their own — somewhere they could arrive, settle in, and feel at ease throughout the year.
The living room is anchored by a deep blue sectional, a piece our client had her eye on from the start, establishing a palette of warm wood, soft neutrals, and layered textures. Thoughtfully chosen lighting, collected objects, and low, horizontal lines keep the room feeling open and grounded, allowing the original beams and stone fireplace to remain the focal point. Just beyond, the family room takes on a more casual role, designed to flex between everyday use and hosting. We created a dining nook designed for morning breakfast and late night board games, and included a sleeper sofa, leather chairs, and soft durable upholstery that feels comfortable and at home in the setting.
With our clients based out of state, the process called for a more turnkey approach, with sourcing, coordination, and installation handled on their behalf as the spaces came together. The home now feels settled without feeling static — a place designed for returning, unwinding, and making memories together.
